Browsing other chess blogs today, I noticed that those who have published games using www.chesspublisher.com currently have "This Account Has Been Suspended" in big letters across their blog, rather than the game that they'd expected to see. It looks as though it has been that way for a few days.

When something similar happened last year I knocked up an equivalent service using Google's servers - and I've been using it on this blog ever since. Since googlepages is free, this has the great advantage that it doesn't rely on anyone remembering to pay their bills...

So: a public service announcement. You all are more than welcome to make use of our version of the game viewer. There's a link in the top left of this page.

Though I've just learned that:
- Google Pages (which we use) will close down "later this year" and transition to Google Sites
- Google Sites doesn't support JavaScript.

Since our viewer relies heavily on JavaScript, I think that means that it's going to break at some point. Sigh.

When you go out to play a game of chess, what do you hope for? A win would be nice, naturally, and I don't suppose many of us would keep playing unless we won a few. But there's little satisfaction in beating much weaker opponents, so we must want more than that. Being made to think, seeing ideas that we haven't seen before, taking the other guy on in a real struggle... isn't that what it's about? How, then, to explain a game like this? White plays the dullest opening he can think of; Black goes along with it. White offers a draw at move 15. Move 15!
